Which is as big as halve of the Netherlands with the total population of 1.3 million. Most of the people work on their farm for less than one euro a day. The distance between the fertile farmlands and the use of primitive tools is often the reason of low profit and the harvest is often just enough for their own use.The average life span is 57 years for women and 55 for man. One out of five children dies before the age of five. Roughly 50% of the population is younger than 16 years. Most of the Ghanaians look upon the Volta Region as a poor region. It battles with high unemployment, bad health, poor educational institutions and a large number of analphabetic, especially under women. The food is one-sided and there is not enough access o clean drinking water.
